The Whiteville Police Department offers sponsorships and Recruit Officer opportunities for students to participate in the Basic Law Enforcement Training program at area community colleges.
Southeastern Community College Brunswick Community College
Cape Fear Community College Bladen Community College
Robeson Community College
To be considered for a letter of sponsorship, students must complete a City of Whiteville application and provide three (3) character references before the letter is issued, the Whiteville Police Department must receive confirmation from the community college's BLET Program Director that the student has completed the enrollment process and will be attending an upcoming BLET course.
The sponsorship does not constitute a guarantee of employment upon completion of the BLET course, nor does it relieve the student of their financial obligations for books, fees, uniforms, etc.
Recruit Officer Program
To be considered for the Recruit Officer Program, the candidate must complete a City of Whiteville application along with a completed Form F-3. Once the documents have been received an abbreviated background will be completed prior to the selection as a Recruit Officer.
