City of Whiteville Alerts: Extreme Cold Watch EXTREME COLD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING Extreme Cold Watch issued December 12 at 12:43PM EST until December 15 at 10:00AM EST by NWS Wilmington NC * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 to 10 above possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. * WHEN...From Sunday evening through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 5 to 10 above zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

City of Whiteville Alerts: Important Update: Downtown Whiteville Christmas Extravaganza Due to the upcoming weather forecast, our Christmas Parade — originally scheduled for Saturday, December 6th — has been rescheduled to Sunday, December 14th at 6:00 PM. We’d love for all current applicants to join us on the new date. However, if you’ve already submitted payment and can’t participate on the 14th, no worries! We’ll gladly apply your payment toward next year’s parade. If you have not registered, you now have until Friday, December 12th at 12 PM to apply at City Hall. Please remember that refunds will not be issued, but your spot for next year will be saved with plenty of holiday cheer. December is a magical (and busy!) time for families across our county. After exploring several options, we’ve chosen the date that allows the most people to enjoy the festivities. Because the new parade date falls on a school night, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Tree Lighting Ceremony. But don’t worry — next year will shine even brighter! We will still have vendors set up before and during the parade around Vineland Station, and we encourage you to shop with them. Restrooms will also be available at Vineland Station. The Tree and sleigh will remain lit — so be sure to snap lots of festive photos! Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and flexibility.
