Notice is hereby given that the Whiteville City Council will conduct public hearing(s) on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 at 6:30 PM or soon thereafter at 317 S. Madison St. in Whiteville to consider the following items:
ITEM 1: P&Z#22-11-01 REZONING PEITION REQUEST, 901 S. MADISON ST., CITY OF WHITEVILLE – City of Whiteville planning staff has submitted an application for the rezoning of approximately ±3.80 acres from Central Business (B-1) to Open-Space (O-S). The subject property is located at 801 S. Madison St. (PID#4943). The site is the former Lewis-Smith Shopping Center. The city acquired the property from the former owners and has returned the property to open space through demolition of the shopping center. The Planning Board recommended denial of the rezoning at their November 7th, 2022 meeting.
ITEM 2: P&Z#22-12-01 ZONING ORDINANCE TEXT AMENDMENT, §155.018, DEFINTIONS, §155.065, TABLE OF PERMITTED USES, §155.066, NOTES TO TABLE OF PERMITTED USES, FOOD TRUCKS -Staff has submitted a zoning text amendment application for amendments to the noted sections of above to include information regarding food trucks. Staff is proposing an amendment to increase the number food truck/mobile vendor permits within the ordinance. The Planning Board recommended approval to City Council at their regular December 5th, 2022 meeting.
