The City of Whiteville is seeking to fill the position of Stormwater Crew Leader. This position performs a variety of responsible technical and skilled work leading and participating in the work of a stormwater maintenance crew and other public works activities. Also involves supervising and leading a crew in maintenance and repair of storm drain collection systems, open ditches, and related infrastructure. Employees are subject to working in outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation, and oils; to include bothersome animals. Employees are also subject the final standards of OSHA on bloodborn pathogens. Employees are also subject to on-call and callback work.
This person must possess a minimum of a valid Class A North Carolina or South Carolina Commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsements and have a high school diploma or equivalent; preferred education and/or experience related to Engineering. Desirable experience to include five years of experience in street construction, maintenance, and repair, including heavy equipment operation experience and some lead worker experience.
